2000 – The media begins to buzz on the topic of Earth’s temperature

2000 – The media begins to buzz on the topic of Earth’s temperature

Concern rises over the release of methane
During the year 2000 discussion shifted from CO2 releases from power plants to Methane and other gases as being more or equally responsible for greenhouse effect warming of the Earth’s surface. Science recognizes in 2000 that methane while released in far less volume than CO2 poses its own special environmental impact due to its heavier molecular structure. Basically it is at this point that the scientific community recognizes that global warming is based on hundreds of combined factors.
Global warming has yet to become a major political arguing point
The United States Council for National Research concluded and released a statement that the Earth’s surface temperature was rising as a result of global warming. They stated that atmosphere temperatures were not yet affected. For the year 2000 the political aspects of climate change and global warming were extremely limited and as yet undefined.
CNN takes a position as to global warming trends
CNN announces that Global Warming warnings are more than hot air. Venerable and generally reliable news source CNN publicly takes the position and stand that global warming is on the overall upward, climate change can no longer be ignored and supports a position that regardless of the year to year inconsistencies there is a general upward trend in temperature. Still for the year 2000 CNN does not opt to fall into the opinion that this definitive temperature rise is based on industrial interaction. CNN proposes and broadcasts their opinion that the natural factors such as volcanic eruptions may be just as responsible for climate change as greenhouse gas emissions.
